On Friday 6th October we are holding a Silver Ball to celebrate our 25th Anniversary.
Why not help us celebrate by joining us for an evening of glitz, glamour, magic and music whilst enjoying a delicious three course meal?
Caring Couple celebrating anniversary win tickets to the ball
In the last newsletter we invited all our carers who were celebrating their own 25th anniversary, to enter a ballot for tickets to attend.
Roberta and Andrew Hill, from Whitehaven were delighted when they found out they had won two tickets to the ball. “It will be lovely for us to dress up for an evening and celebrate our Silver Wedding anniversary at such a lovely event. We were married on 9th November 1992, that’s also Andrew’s birthday so he never forgets our anniversary.”
Known locally as Robby and Andy, Robby is an unpaid carer for 90-year-old Laura Reed. Robby and Laura knew each other from their local church St Andrews, but it was only after Laura had been in hospital that Robby started to visit her on a regular basis. That was over 11 years ago and she still visits twice a week…once for shopping and once for craik and cake!
Laura is really pleased for them and says Robby and Andy have become her adopted family; Andy will pop round to fix any little jobs and their son keeps an eye on Laura too. Having lived in her home for 68 years, since just after she married her late husband Arthur Reed, their support enables her to continue to live in her own home and keep her independence. Laura’s daughter lives in Birmingham and she is delighted her mum has the Hills in her life and just round the corner. They love celebrating family milestones and are planning a meal out together to celebrate their anniversary in November.
