Today is World Mental Health Day, a global day of awareness to focus attention on Mental Health issues.
According to the Mental Health Foundation, 1 in 4 of us will experience some kind of mental health problem over the course of a year. These figures are reflected in our own work, where we have found that around 30% of our Carers care for someone with a mental health problem.
Furthermore, 33% of carers who provide care to a loved one for more than 50 hours per week report depression. Caring can be a isolating and tiring task, which can lead to feelings of depression and anxiety.
If you are struggling with your caring role, feeling down, depressed, stressed or anxious, please do contact us. We have a number of services that can support you, including relaxation courses and talking therapies.
We have supported a number of carers with mental health concerns, and we want to reach out to as many carers in West Cumbria as possible. We are here to support people who care.
