Then why not try volunteering – here at West Cumbria Carers!
To celebrate Volunteers' Week (June 1-7) we are taking the opportunity to thank our loyal volunteers AND to encourage new helpers to sign up.
Volunteering offers vital help to those in need within your community. While you can make a difference to others as a volunteer, you too will benefit.
Giving your free time to help others is known to reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose.
Volunteering connects you to others, boosts mental and physical wellbeing, can help your career prospects, and bring enjoyment to your life.
Ann Bruce, of the West Cumbria Carers volunteer team, said:
“We are so grateful to our volunteers, they do a fantastic job and to show our appreciation of them we are holding a special lunch on June 5 for them all to celebrate Volunteers' Week.’’
Ann and Angela ,from our Volunteer team, will also be attending a Volunteering Fair at the Solway Hall in Whitehaven on Thursday, June 6 from noon-4pm.
For more information about volunteering pop along and speak to them at the event or contact them at the office on 01900 821976.
“The volunteer driver was a godsend to me. He was really lovely and pleasant… he was very helpful.’’
“The volunteer sitter was someone new to talk to my mum, which brightened her and made her feel valued. I was able to go out of the house feeling confident that mum had company.’’
