10th June 2019Category: General
Our special week is here at last and we’re so excited about all the great things we have planned for the week.
Our events will kick off on Tuesday with a Spinathon at Workington Leisure Centre.
There are 30 bikes available and the aim is to cycle 150 miles in 1 hour. If you have a few minutes to spare why not call down and hop on a bike for us (lycra is optional).
If spinning is not your thing you could still support our intrepid cyclists by making a donation on our JustGiving page.
We will also have an information stand in the reception area so if you would like more information about what we do, or support in your caring role, just pop in for a chat.
This event is taking place between 10.30 and 11.30am.
On Wednesday our popular Cupcakes4Carers event is back! Join us at our offices in Cockermouth for a cuppa and some cake between 10am and 1pm.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the carers, volunteers and staff who have baked cakes for this event, as well as the local businesses who have donated some fabulously tempting treats:
During this event we will also be holding the draw to pick the winner of the Ian McKellan on Stage tickets. We’re hoping to live stream this on Facebook and will announce the exact time of the draw on Wednesday morning if you want to tune in.
You can still enter the draw up until 5pm on Tuesday, just call 01900 821976 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also on Wednesday morning our Volunteer Team will be at Sellafield training more workplace Carers Champions. Following the training they will be manning an information stall for employees over lunchtime. To find out more about workplace Carers Champions click here.
The theme of this year’s Carers Week is about 'Getting Carers Connected' to important support services, advice and information. Caring can impact on all aspects of life from relationships and health to finances and work. Caring without the right information and support can be tough.
You can read more about how we can help you get connected here. Alternatively you can visit our information stall at Sainsbury’s in Cockermouth on Thursday. If you would like to know more about caring or find out how to get support call in and see us between 10am-2.30pm.
And finally to Friday! After all that working out on Tuesday and cake scoffing on Wednesday it’s finally time to relax because its Pyjama Day!
We’ve been asking local schools and business to wear their PJ’s to the classroom/office and donate £1 to West Cumbria Carers. Our staff will be getting in on the act too so keep an eye out for some fun filled photos (fluffy slippers optional).
If you want to join in with the fun tag us into your PJ Pics on Friday #PJDay #CarersWeek
Two staff members who won’t be relaxing in their PJs on Friday are Angela and Andrea who will once again be delivering workplace Carers Champions training and holding an employee information stall, this time at Albion Square.
If you’d like to get involved in any of our activities call us on 01900 821976.
