For Young Carers Action Day 2021 we are reaching out to local employers to help us show young carers that the experience of being a young carer can help them in their future, especially when looking at employment options.
We would like you (or someone else in your organisation) to record a short video of yourself - give a brief outline of your organisation and/or job role and then talk about how the skills and experience young carers develop could be transferred to this workplace (we have included a list of skills and experience below).
Basically a short statement about why a young carer would be a valuable asset to your business/organisation.
If you feel this is something you would be able to support us with we really would love to hear from you.
The video should be filmed in landscape and be no longer than 1 minute, it will be published (along with the many others we hope receive) on our YouTube Channel and shared on our website and social media.
Please send your video via email to email@example.com, via WhatsApp (07823 722 578) or Facebook messenger (@westcumbriacarers). If you have any problems sending the video give Julie a ring on 07823 722 578.
Videos would need to be received no later than 1st March to allow for editing, they will be published on 16th March 2021.
We might not be able to use all the videos that we are sent.
Carers Trust is leading Young Carers Action Day (YCAD) 2021, working together with Network Partners to ensure that Tuesday 16 March 2021 is a day of recognition and action for young and young adult carers across the UK.
Carers Trust have had some great conversations with young/young adult carers. They told them that they wanted the day to be about their futures, highlighting the incredible skills they have developed through being a carer.
So YCAD 2021 will be all about young carers’ futures. The theme is: Protect Young Carers' Futures.
West Cumbria Carers is a Network Partner of Carers Trust; we offer support to young carers living in West Cumbria.
We all know that job roles require specific qualifications, Carers Trust want employers to think about what the personal skills and life experiences of young carers could additionally bring to a role.
If you would like any further information do not hesitate to get in touch.
