It is Carers Week!

Category: GeneralMonday 7th June sees the return of Carers Week. This year carers are continuing to face new challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people are taking on more caring responsibilities for their relatives and friends who need support.
The theme for Carers Week 2021 is “Make Caring Visible and Valued”. Carers need to be recognised for the difficulties they experience, respected for all they are doing, and provided with information, support and understanding.
To support this year’s campaign, we are celebrating our fantastic carers and how valuable they are to the local community, as well as continuing to raise as much awareness as we possibly can for carer’s and their needs.
Carers Appreciation Kits
We are in awe of the fantastic work that carers do! To make sure they know how much we appreciate all that they do we sent out a small gift with the May 2021 Adult Carers newsletter.

Worth their weight in gold
As an extra special treat for Carers Week we randomly attached a golden ticket to 20 newsletters. Each golden ticket corresponds to a lovely treat which will be delivered during Carers Week.

The Choice is Yours Festival
This health and wellbeing event is being held in Millom from the 1st to the 26th June. The event has been organised by the Millom ICC and Copeland Borough Council and will take place in different venues each week.
As week 2 coincides with Carers Week our staff members will be available at the event throughout the week – for specific dates and times check the online activities calendar.
Poetry Group Fun Day
The days are growing lighter and restrictions are lifting just in time for Carers Week.
This year our carers will have the opportunity to come together in a social event led by local willow artist Phil Bradley.
When: Friday 11 June 10am-4pm
Where: Kirkstile Village Hall, Dean
The day has been organised with our lovely friends at Wordsworth Trust as part of Dorothy Wordsworth’s 250th birthday celebrations and the opening of the new Wordsworth museum.
