Thursday 21 November is Carers Rights Day and this year’s theme is “Helping you find your way”. Every day 6,000 people in the UK become carers, and rarely are they able to plan for it. From the outset you may find yourself needing to talk to health and social care providers; negotiate with your employer about juggling work with caring; dealing with the complexities of the benefits system and thinking about how to fund future care costs.

We'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to the Provincial Grand Lodge of Cumberland & Westmorland Masons. We were invited to attend their Charity Presentation Evening at the Shepherds Inn, Carlisle on Thursday, 17th October, 2019. Everyone had a lovely evening and we were absolutely delighted to the be presented with a cheque for £2,000 to help support Young Carers in West Cumbria.

In previous years we have had great success with this initiative so we are excited to say once again October is ‘Make a Will’ Month. Making a will can be expensive and as a result many of us constantly put it to the bottom of our ‘to do’ list. This October you can have a professionally written will made in exchange for a donation to West Cumbria Carers.

Lets Talk…Energy Saving The forums will be looking at the different ways you can keep warm while saving money this winter and will include: tips to help you become more energy efficient and cut costs information on switching suppliers to get the best deal details of how to apply for things such as the Warm Home Discount, Winter Warmth grants and the Priority Services Register.
