On 24th June our intrepid transition worker Jacqui Miller is braving the heights of Snowdonia to raise money for West Cumbria Carers. Jacqui will be taking the plunge down the longest and fastest zip line in Europe, located in North Wales, where she will reach speeds of 100mph! Jacqui is asking for sponsors to raise money for WCC.

Young Carers Easter Ice Skating Trip

The young carers recently enjoyed a trip to Carlisle’s new ice skating rink in Bitts Park. We hired out the rink just for us and everyone had loads of fun whizzing around! This was a very popular trip with all 35 places being filled almost straight away and we had a very large waiting list! However don’t worry if you wanted to come and didn’t get the opportunity as John Head from Workington Rotary Club has organised for the Rotary club to fund another trip to the Ice Skating Rink in the Summer Holidays! A big thank you to the Rotary Club for your support.

Lifting and carrying are an everyday part of life for many carers and for some this can lead to significant back pain and problems. Recognising this, we recently ran a course for carers that covered safe moving and handling techniques and asked them to provide us with some feedback at the end of the session.
