Category: Adult CarersWhy not join our Adult Carers Poetry Group?
The group meets on the last Thursday of every month from 10am to 12noon at our office in Cockermouth.
It is a very relaxed session lead by Susan Allen of the Wordsworth Trust. Discussions cover a varied range of topics and the sessions usually end with the whole group contributing to the writing of a poem. In addition some of our budding lyricists bring poems in they have written themselves to share with the group.
If your creativity needs an outlet come along to a session, try it out, and see if it's for you? Below you can read & download some examples of the groups wonderful creations.

It’s Not All About The Daffodils, Mr. Wordsworth…
Memories are forever: a flower press, sunny days,
The feel of blotting paper between your fingers,
School days, ink pens – feeling like dry snow.
Finding a spring flower in the depths of winter,
Brightening a dark day, a memory stored forever,
Found between the falling pages of a book.
Reminders of summer days,
Running through meadows, cares far away.
Bees among the mustard flowers
Collecting to store away for the shorter days,
Dreaming of the spring to come.
Snowdrops, crocus, grape hyacinth, bluebells,
Wild garlic, the coconut smell of gorse.
Grey to bright, dark to light.
