During Carers Week we will be raising awareness of carers, and on Wednesday 12th June two of our staff team will be at B111, Sellafield Ltd over lunch time with an information stand after delivering Workplace Carers Champion training. This training will be in the Keekle Suite, B111 and starts at 10am. If you are a Sellafield employee and would like to become a Workplace Carers Champion please contact your Line Manager before signing up.
If you would like to find out more about what we do and how we can support carers please pop along to see us.
Carers Champions are volunteers who act as a voice for carers in their workplace or local community.
This training helps Champions to raise awareness and promote understanding of the role of an unpaid Carer.
"A Carers Champion is someone who is aware of the stresses and strains a Carer may be facing. They understand the importance of the role of a carer and can identify the signs of someone who perhaps, unknowingly, is caring.
The training with West Cumbria Carers provides information about the Charity and the services available to carers".
Attendees will gain an understanding of what it means to be a carer and some of the issues carers may face. They will also learn how to support people into taking the first step of contacting the Charity when they are ready to do so.
If you are interested in becoming a Carers Champion, or would like to arrange a training session for your organisation please email our Volunteer Team.
