But working carers are still reluctant to tell their employer that they are carers because there is the perception of losing their job or being over-looked for promotion. This is not true; employers are starting to recognise the strong business case for retaining experienced workers and the positive impacts of flexible working.

Wheelie Bin Challenge

Friday June 29th will see the return of a unique community charity event. The Wheelie Bin Challenge is a volunteer led event to raise awareness of local charities while collecting food for local Food Banks. On the day 10 teams of volunteers, each representing a different charity, will be walking 20 miles across West Cumbria pulling specially modified wheelie bins, visiting local schools and collecting food for the North Lakes Foodbank.
