It’s Carers Week, the annual campaign which raises awareness of caring. Carers UK recently carried out a survey to understand how COVID-19 is impacting carers. The resulting report, Caring Behind Closed Doors, showed that although unpaid carers are fighting the same battle as care staff and many of our NHS workers: they are doing it behind closed doors and with far less recognition.

The current lockdown has meant big changes to normal day-to-day activities: not going to school, not going outdoors much and not being able to meet up with friends. We are deeply saddened to hear that John Head has recently passed away. For more than 10 years John and the Rotary club of Workington have been an amazing source of support for the Young Carers Project. John was a lovely man who felt that young carers were amazing young people with responsibilities far beyond their years.
