You don’t need any special skills or experience to be a volunteer. We will fully train and support you to ensure you are able to start volunteering with confidence.
People who make good volunteers often share some of the following qualities:
As a volunteer, you will be a valued and vital member of our organisation.
The time you give will help to make a big difference to the lives of individuals.
We are very pleased to hear from potential volunteers at any time. Please call or email us if you are keen to volunteer, or if you simply want to have a chat about whether volunteering is for you. Or you can download our application form below to fill in and post to us. We will then contact you to arrange to meet and chat.
Copies of our current Volunteer Role Descriptions can be downloaded below, if you want to discuss any of the roles or if you have any specific skills that could be used to offer a valuable service to carers, just call the Volunteer Team on 01900 821 976.
We try to run our training courses at least twice a year, or more if we have a lot of applications, so you will hopefully be able to start volunteering with us soon.
Please be advised: Before you can begin volunteering with us we will need to ask for references from two people who know you well and, depending upon the role you are applying for, we will need to arrange for a DBS check. We appreciate this is a lengthy process but as some of the people we work with are vulnerable, these procedures are necessary. Please be reassured all your details will be treated with strict confidence.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this form.
Please note if you are unsuccessful on this occasion your application form will be kept on file for 3 months. It will then be destroyed to comply with the Data Protection Act. West Cumbria Carers is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998.
