What We Do
West Cumbria Carers is a Carers Organisation that covers the whole of West Cumbria, incorporating the areas of Allerdale and Copeland. We have been in operation since 1992 when it became evident that Carers in West Cumbria could benefit from additional support.
Our aim is to provide support to Carers who look after a family member, relative, friend or neighbour who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, disability or addiction. Our service users are adult Carers, transitional Carers and Young Carers.
Over the years West Cumbria Carers has developed and expanded our services in response to the needs of our service users, and now provide a range of services including:-
Carers breaks
Support groups
Carers Assessments
Training provision
Awareness raising

Assistance to complete certain benefit forms
Carers trips, outings & social events

We also work closely with other organisations and the statutory sector to increase awareness of the needs of Carers and facilitate access to services, including:-
