The Princess Royal Trust for Carers

West Cumbria Carers is a partner organisation with the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, also sometimes referred o as the PRTC is a national organisation, created on the initiative of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal in 1991. West Cumbria Carers is just one of 144 Carer’s Centers nationwide

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers web site hosts a variety of different Chat Rooms and Blogs which  anyone is welcome to access. TheArchived Chats, ‘Blogs andDiscussion Board can be browsed without the need to register. However, in order to participate in theLive Chat facility, you will need to Register with PRTC. You are able to chose a level of privacy or visibility that suits you.

The PRTC web site is also a valuable source of up to date news on issues affecting Carers.

The PRTC is able to facilitate and support these ‘Carers Chat’ and news facilities because of the number of its members and staff. The size of its membership is of benefit in terms of the likelihood of being able to ‘chat’ online to a fellow Carer whatever the time of day or night. We would encourage you to access these pages if they would be of benefit to you; but would also encourage you to come back to this site for support and information closer to home.

August 2011 news update: The PRTC and Crossroads Care are working together to create a New Charity that will improve the lives of Carers in the UK. The New Charity aims to provide:

A stronger brand with increased power to lobby and fundraise.

Better services that are Carer-led.

Better support to our networks and partners.

We will endeavour to bring you more information about the New Charity as it progresses.
