We aim to provide a range of events throughout the year, to reflect the feedback we have from our Carers. With a range of monthly Support Groups, trips and outings, together with events run during Carers’ Week and in conjunction with other local agencies, plus our fundraising events; we hope that there is a little something for everyone. If you have any suggestions or feedback, please pass them on to us.

The Tiny Tearooms

Lakes College’s new coffee shop opened situated at the Distington Walled Garden, opened its doors in late April to queues of eager customers. More than 40 people attending the open day, all keen to taste the home-made treats prepared by Lakes College Foundation Diploma students.

Staff and students all received very positive feedback from the visitors who enjoyed a relaxing, homely environment and were particularly impressed that everything was home-made – right down to the butter!

The tearoom is open on Thursdays during term time, more information can be found here: Tiny Tea Room details.pdf

Get your wellies on and join us on the farm

All the money raised at the 6th Annual Allonby Charity Ploughing Match will be donated to West Cumbria Carers. So why not come and join us for the day. It should be a good day out for everyone with craft stalls, home baking, a big raffle, vintage tractors and horse ploughing teams.

There will be four ploughing competitions including a Novice Class (watch out for a surprise entry from the staff team).

The event will be held just outside Allonby (follow signs to Mealo House Caravan Site on the Hayton Road off the B5300)

Sunday 19th August from 10 am Entry is £2.50 per person.

In support of this event West Cumbria Carers have agreed to sell books of raffle tickets. If you would like to buy some books or help to sell them please call the office. Books of tickets are 5 for £1.00.
