What West Cumbria Carers Means to Me...

For some people it is simply the knowledge that West Cumbria Carers are here, to listen and to understand.

“Carers need to know there are professional people with knowledge and understanding of peoples needs, to give advice when necessary. Maybe someone just to talk to would be of great help. I know there are people out there doing that.”

For some people, they appreciate the practical support West Cumbria Carers can give in completing certain benefit forms, or attending meetings with health care professionals, Social Workers, or even just being present when talking with the person you care for, or friends and family members.

“If I need help I know I only have to pick the phone up and I will get any information I need from you.”

For some people, West Cumbria Carers and its events, Support Groups and trips, provide a welcome social network where they can feel understood and welcomed.

“Being with West Cumbria Carers meant I was able to get out for day trips with other people in the same situation. It is important for Carers to get some time out for themselves as the caring role can be very stressful.”
